Open Access, Licensing and Indexing
GPPPH is committed to the principles of open access, ensuring that scholarly research is freely available to the global community.
Open Access Policy: GPPPH will operate as a fully open-access journal, meaning all content will be freely available without charge to the user or institution immediately upon publication, with no embargo period. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full texts of articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, provided proper attribution is given. This aligns with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access.
Indexing Targets:
- DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals): A primary target for open access journals. Requirements include immediate and free access to all content, a clear peer review process, a reputable editorial board, a valid ISSN, clearly defined aims/scope on the website, at least 5 articles per year, an archiving policy, and clear licensing information (CC licenses). For new journals, a publication history of more than one year or at least ten open access articles is required before application.
- Scopus: A key long-term goal. Scopus-indexed journals are considered high quality and boost research visibility and credibility. Criteria include a valid ISSN, predominantly peer-reviewed scientific content, a publicly available formal peer review process, content accessible and readable for an international audience (English titles and abstracts are mandatory even if the main language is not English), and a formal, publicly available ethics and malpractice policy. Journal policy, editorial diversity, author pool diversity, content quality, and regularity are also evaluated.
- Web of Science (WoS): Another crucial long-term goal for international recognition. WoS indexing requires a registered and visible ISSN, scientific content, a concrete peer review system, timely publication (submission to publication less than 1 year), limited self-publication by editorial board members (less than 40%), limited single-author dominance (less than 30%), accurate reference formatting, English headings and abstracts, clear language, a statement on ethics and best practices, and geographical diversity of authors. For online-only journals, a minimum of 9 months continuous publication with at least one article per month and 20 articles per year is required.
- Other Major Databases: The journal will also target indexing in other relevant databases such as EBSCO, JSTOR, and Google Scholar to maximize discoverability and reach.
Copyright: While GPPPH is open access, articles remain copyrighted. Authors will retain copyright of their work, granting GPPPH the necessary publishing rights under the CC BY 4.0 license. This ensures that the work belongs to the authors while enabling broad reuse and dissemination.
Archiving: The journal is committed to long-term digital preservation of its content to ensure permanent accessibility.
