GPPPH AI Policy

This policy provides guidance for authors, editors, and reviewers on the responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. As AI technologies continue to evolve, this policy will be updated as necessary. GPPPH supports the responsible use of AI tools in ways that maintain high standards of data security, confidentiality, and copyright protection, including for: (i) idea generation, (ii) language improvement, (iii) literature search and classification, and (iv) data coding assistance.

However, GPPPH recognizes potential risks associated with AI use, such as: (i) inaccuracies and bias, (ii) lack of proper attribution or referencing, (iii) breaches of confidentiality and intellectual property, and (iv) unintended applications. This policy aligns with the COPE AI guidelines.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all content in their submissions meets rigorous scholarly standards, including originality, accuracy, research validation, and integrity. When using AI tools, authors must review outputs carefully, ensure proper referencing and attribution, and acknowledge AI use within the manuscript. The acknowledgment should include the tool’s full name, version number, purpose, and scope of use, and must appear in the Methods section (or Introduction, if no Methods section exists). AI tools cannot be listed as authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for content.

Editors and Reviewers must not use AI tools when handling manuscripts, as this may compromise confidentiality, intellectual property, and data security, including personally identifiable information. Manuscript files, images, or any unpublished content must not be uploaded into AI tools under any circumstances. Failure to comply may violate the intellectual property rights of authors and the journal.
