Publication Frequency

The Journal of Distance Education and Research (JDER) follows a bi-annual publication model, ensuring a balanced approach between timely dissemination of scholarly work and rigorous academic quality control. The publication frequency has been carefully designed to support sustained academic engagement while maintaining high editorial and peer-review standards.

1. Regular Issues (Bi-Annual Publication)

JDER publishes two regular issues each year, typically scheduled as:

  • Issue 1 (January–June)
  • Issue 2 (July–December)

This bi-annual frequency allows the journal to:

  • Ensure thorough double-blind peer review of all submitted manuscripts
  • Maintain academic rigor, originality, and methodological soundness
  • Provide authors with constructive feedback and adequate revision time
  • Publish well-curated issues that reflect current debates, innovations, and empirical findings in social sciences and education

Each regular issue may include a diverse range of scholarly contributions, such as:

  • Original research articles
  • Review papers and systematic reviews
  • Conceptual and theoretical studies
  • Case studies and best practice reports
  • Policy analyses relevant to education and social development

2. Special Issues

In addition to its regular bi-annual issues, JDER may publish Special Issues on a periodic basis. These issues are designed to address emerging themes, contemporary challenges, and evolving research agendas within the domains of social sciences and educational practices.

Special Issues may be announced:

  • In response to emerging global or regional issues in education and society
  • In collaboration with academic conferences, seminars, or symposia
  • Through partnerships with research institutions, academic networks, or funded projects
  • To highlight interdisciplinary or policy-relevant themes of high societal impact

3. Editorial Oversight of Special Issues

Special Issues are published under the same ethical, editorial, and peer-review standards as regular issues. Each Special Issue:

  • Is approved by the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board
  • May be managed by Guest Editors with recognized expertise in the relevant theme
  • Undergoes a formal peer-review process to ensure quality, transparency, and academic integrity

The inclusion of Special Issues enhances JDER’s mission to remain responsive, innovative, and globally relevant, while offering scholars a focused platform for thematic research dissemination.

4. Flexibility and Academic Responsiveness

The publication frequency policy of JDER reflects the journal’s commitment to:

  • Academic excellence and editorial integrity
  • Timely response to new research trends and societal needs
  • Supporting scholars, practitioners, and policymakers with evidence-based insights

By combining bi-annual regular issues with selectively curated Special Issues, JDER ensures both consistency and adaptability in scholarly publishing.
