Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Life Sciences and Informatics (JLSI) maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and academic dishonesty. We are committed to ensuring the originality and integrity of all published work.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text, images, tables, or equations without proper citation
  • Paraphrasing another work’s content or ideas without acknowledgment
  • Self-plagiarism, i.e., reusing significant portions of the author’s own previously published work without appropriate citation or editorial permission
  • Submitting work that is not the author’s own (ghostwriting or contract writing)

Screening for Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism detection using reliable tools before entering the peer review process.

  • A similarity index of more than 15% (excluding references) will typically be flagged for revision or rejection, depending on the nature and extent of overlap.
  • In cases of suspected plagiarism, authors will be contacted for clarification. Failure to provide a satisfactory explanation may result in manuscript rejection and notification to relevant institutions.

Handling Cases of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected:

  • Before publication: The manuscript will be immediately rejected. Authors may be barred from submitting to the journal for a defined period.
  • After publication: The article will be retracted, and a notice of retraction will be published. Indexing services will be notified.
  • In severe cases: The journal reserves the right to inform the authors' institutions, funding bodies, or relevant regulatory authorities.

Responsibility

It is the authors' responsibility to ensure that their work is free from plagiarism and that all sources are appropriately cited. All listed authors must have reviewed the manuscript and approved its content and originality.
