Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Journal of Psychology: Research & Practice acknowledges the increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in academic research and scholarly publishing. This policy is designed to promote the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of AI in accordance with the highest standards of research integrity.

Acceptable Use

Authors may employ generative AI or machine-learning–based tools (e.g., for language editing, grammatical correction, reference formatting, or data visualization), provided that:

  • AI tools are used solely for supportive, non-intellectual tasks and do not replace the author’s original scholarly contribution.
  • The use of AI is clearly and explicitly disclosed in the manuscript, preferably in the Acknowledgments or Methods section, including the name and version of the tool used.
  • Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, validity, and ethical integrity of all submitted content, including text, data, figures, tables, and references.

Unacceptable Use

  • AI tools must not be credited as authors or co-authors.
  • AI must not be used to generate, falsify, modify, or manipulate research data, results, images, or analyses.
  • AI must not be used to produce entire manuscripts, fabricate references, or generate peer-review reports.
  • Any undisclosed, misleading, or deceptive use of AI that compromises originality or influences scientific interpretation will be regarded as research misconduct and addressed in accordance with established ethical procedures.

Editorial and Peer Review Use

Editors and reviewers may use AI tools only for limited technical support, such as language checks or plagiarism screening. AI tools must not be used to assess scientific merit, interpret findings, or make editorial or peer-review decisions. All AI-assisted outputs must be independently reviewed and verified by the responsible editor or reviewer.

Accountability

All authors, editors, and reviewers are accountable for ensuring that AI tools are used ethically, transparently, and responsibly. The Journal of Psychology: Research & Practice reserves the right to request detailed disclosure of AI usage and may reject submissions that do not comply with this policy.

Compliance

The Journal of Psychology: Research & Practice follows the ethical recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)  regarding the responsible use of AI in scholarly publishing. Failure to disclose AI use or misuse of AI tools may be considered a violation of publication ethics.
