Book Review Guidelines for Authors

Purpose of Book Reviews 

The Journal of Modern Trends in Mathematical Sciences (JMTMS) publishes analytical and well-argued reviews of recently published scholarly books relevant to mathematics, applied sciences, and related interdisciplinary fields. Reviews should critically evaluate the book’s contribution, strengths, limitations, and relevance to contemporary scholarship and practice.

Eligibility for Review 

We accept reviews of:

• Academic books published within the last 5 years
• Research monographs, edited volumes, and scholarly texts

We do NOT accept: 

• Textbooks
• Popular literature or self-help books
• Promotional content

Length & Formatting 

• Word count: 1,200–2,000 words
• Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
• Line spacing: 1.5
• Margins: 1 inch
• File format: Latex
• Referencing style: APA 7th Edition

Required Structure 

Authors must organize the review using the following sections: 

1. Title of the Review 

A clear, descriptive title that includes the book title and the critical lens applied.

2. Reviewer Information 

• Full Name 

• Affiliation 

• Email Address 

• ORCID

3. Full Book Details 

Format: 
Author(s). (Year). Title of the book. Publisher. Pages. ISBN. 

4. Abstract (100–150 words) 

Summary of the book and the reviewer’s evaluative stance.

5. Introduction 

Context, author background, purpose of the book, and scope of the review. 

6. Overview of Content 

Concise thematic summary of the book’s content, avoiding chapter-by-chapter description.

7. Critical Evaluation 

Analyze the book’s arguments, methodology, clarity, originality, and rigor.

8. Discuss

• Strengths and weaknesses
• Gaps or limitations
• Comparison with related works
• Contribution to the field

9. Relevance & Application 

The book’s usefulness for researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers.

10. Conclusion 

Clear, balanced final evaluation, including the targeted audience for the book.

11. References 

List only cited sources in APA 7th Edition format.

Writing Style 

• Academic, objective, and precise
• Third-person narrative preferred
• Clear, concise paragraphs
• Avoid excessive summary or promotional tone

The review process generally takes 4–5 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.
