Plagiarism (Similarity Index) Policy

All manuscripts submitted to JEDI (Journal of Emerging Data Intelligence) undergo mandatory plagiarism screening using reliable similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin) at multiple stages of the editorial process, including initial submission and post-revision checks.

JEDI adheres to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan’s plagiarism policy, with the following thresholds:

  • Overall similarity index: must not exceed 19%

  • Similarity from a single source: must not exceed 5%

The plagiarism screening covers, but is not limited to:

  • Direct plagiarism (verbatim copying without proper attribution)

  • Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism

  • Self-plagiarism (reuse of previously published material without proper disclosure)

  • Inadequate paraphrasing or insufficient citation

Manuscripts exceeding the permitted similarity limits may be:

  • Returned to authors for revision and clarification

  • Rejected in cases of significant or deliberate ethical misconduct

  • Reported to relevant institutional authorities if serious violations are confirmed

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly cited, and ethically compliant. Submission to JEDI confirms that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
