Plagiarism (Similarity Index) Policy

ISSN: 3106-647X, 3106-6488

All manuscripts submitted to JSSEP undergo mandatory plagiarism screening using reliable similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin) at multiple stages of the editorial process, including initial submission and post-revision checks.

JSSEP adheres to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan’s plagiarism policy, with the following thresholds:

  • Overall similarity index must not exceed 19%
  • Similarity from any single source must not exceed 5%
  • The plagiarism screening covers, but is not limited to:
  • Direct plagiarism (verbatim copying without attribution)
  • Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism (redundant publication or reuse of previously published material without disclosure)
  • Inappropriate paraphrasing or insufficient citation

Manuscripts exceeding the permitted similarity limits may be:

  • Returned to authors for revision and clarification
  • Rejected outright in cases of severe or deliberate misconduct
  • Reported to relevant institutional authorities if ethical violations are substantiated

Authors are solely responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly cited, and ethically sound. Submission to JSSEP implies that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal.
