About the Virtual University

The Virtual University is Pakistan’s first university based entirely on modern Information and Communication Technologies. Established by the Government as a public sector, not-for-profit institution, it was founded with a clear mission: to provide extremely affordable world-class education to aspiring students across the country.

By utilizing free-to-air satellite television broadcasts and the Internet, the Virtual University enables students to follow its rigorous academic programs regardless of their physical locations. It aims to address the lack of capacity in existing universities while simultaneously tackling the acute shortage of qualified professors nationwide.

The University identifies top professors from across the country, regardless of their institutional affiliations, and invites them to develop and deliver meticulously crafted courses. This initiative ensures that the very best educational resources are available not only to its own students but also to students at all other universities in Pakistan.
