Dr Benish Khan, Dr Zahid Mahmood
Abstract:
ABSTRACT The evolution of relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia exemplifies a unique amalgamation of political alignment, strategic alliance, and security cooperation from 1947 to 2018. Rooted on shared religious and cultural ties, the bilateral relationship rapidly developed into a multifaceted alliance. Saudi Arabia was among the initial nations to recognise Pakistan's independence, so laying the groundwork for continued engagement. Over the years, the two nations have offered mutual support in political matters, established military and defence relationships, and strategically aligned to address regional and global challenges. This paper examines the complex dynamics of the relationship by investigating its political underpinnings, strategic elements, and security implications. It highlights the enduring significance of Saudi Arabia inside Pakistan's foreign policy and the reciprocal benefits characterising their alliance.
